    Road Salt

Picking up rock salt isn't a problem. Salt water is where you would have to start worrying about corrosion.

    Does Euro-Pro Even Exist Anymore

Hoover uses the Convertible for ASMR

Thought some folks here might find this interesting. Hoover has released an hour long video of the Convertible vacuuming as "white noise" for sleeping or relaxation purposes. Video features a very 1970s living room with one of the early 70s Convertibles vacuuming. Neat of them to do this.

    Royal vacuums all gone?

Kirby That makes complete sense to me. I actually had one of the Royal uprights for a while. I really didn't care for it. The problem for Royal is that if you took away the metal upright, it would kind of be like Kirby dropping the Generation series and replacing it with a Hoover Windtunnel...

    Royal vacuums all gone?

If I remember right, TTI dropped them a couple of years ago. They wanted to focus more on Hoover' commercial line. You have to remember that before they were dropped, apart from the metal upright, they were all rebadged Hoovers and Orecks.

    1950's Sears Vacuum Selling Video

Thought I would share this clip, put out by Sears in 1955, called "Pitch, Plant, Profit". It features two salesmen trying to sell vacuums to potential prospects. Interesting blast from the past.

Were Hoover US and Hoover UK ever the same?

My understanding is that UK Hoover was a subsidiary of US Hoover from its inception up until the early 90s, after the US division sold them after the disastrous Free Flights promotion.

Sebo's and... Baking Powder (Advice Needed)

@Ultralux To answer your question, I'm pretty sure she was using it to pour baking soda over a damp carpet and then vacuum it up to "remove odors". I don't think she used the floor nozzle because when I checked that and the inner pipe that ran into the hose,it was clean. My hose end was...

Opinions Wanted: Rug Doctor vs. Bissell Big Green

I actually have the hose. I've used it a fair amount. It's just a royal pain to put on. I was just wondering if between the two machines one was better than the other or if they were about equal.

Opinions Wanted: Rug Doctor vs. Bissell Big Green

This is probably a topic that has been beaten to death, but I can't find direct comparisons between the two, or at least anything conclusive. What's the consensus on the old fashioned Rug Doctor vs. the Bissell Big Green (the one that you can rent in stores)? I own the Rug Doctor right now (in...

Sebo's and... Baking Powder (Advice Needed)

Alright, I have a question. I left for the day to go to a small dinner. I get home to find that my girlfriend has used my 3 month old Sebo Dart to vacuum up baking soda. I am not happy. I know it's not good for vacuums. I took the hose off, rinsed it out and it is drying as we speak. I changed...

How often do Sebo's need servicing?

Hi all. Not long ago I bought a brand new Sebo Dart. I was wondering if it was recommended to take the vacuum in every year for a service, or if I could do the servicing myself. What would a yearly service entail for a Sebo anyway? Thanks!

I had enough with my Hoovers...

I understand why TTI got rid of Royal. There was too much overlap with Hoover. Plus the metal upright, although good and effective seemed to sell more to commercial clients. And if you want an old fashioned commercial cleaner, TTI would be happy to sell you a Guardsman or Conquest, or even an...

    Recommendations for a new vacuum

My honest recommendation is to go to a vac shop and see if they have anything used they could sell you. Your price range for anything new I believe would leave you with the box store products that you already have had a poor experience with.

I had enough with my Hoovers...

A Couple Additional Things... 1) Forgot to mentioned that this machine clogged rather easily. The suction for the floor unit was through the accessory hose, which was routed directly to the collection bin. That routing (and the hose) had a decent sized opening, probably about an inch and a half...
