Hi there, I wanted to share an update that I recently finished restoring my mid to late 1930's Health Mor Sanitation System vacuum. My machine is now all factory original due to myself acquiring factory original parts through lots of effort and over a long time. The bag, wheels, cord, and handle...

Mid 1930s Hoover model 25 Motor Smokes

Question regarding re-packing bearings How does one re-pack a sealed motor bearing, as most older motor bearings are sealed and cannot be easily repacked? I don't want to risk damaging the spacers and bushings. What type of tool would be best for repacking the bearings of my hoover 25 motor?

Mid 1930s Hoover model 25 Motor Smokes

Reply to huskyvacs Yes, that is correct, from thinking about this for a while now, I believe that the reason for the motor burning is due to oil getting onto the armature and field windings or commutator where the carbon brushes are. I will do my best with removing all oil from the armature and...

Something to mention Would cleaning the armature shafts with WD-40 work for removing oil residue, besides alcohol?

Mid 1930s Hoover model 25 Motor Smokes

I'm Wondering I did put oil on both parts of the armature which fit through both bushings of each bearing. Is there supposed to be any oil at all in each bushing or is adding oil to the bushings the direct cause of why the motor is smoking? The thing is I do know that both bearings in my hoover...

Mid 1930s Hoover model 25 Motor Smokes

Reply How does one run a vacuum, such as my hoover 25 in reverse? Do you just simply plug the cord into the outlet in reverse, or the opposite way? I'm not sure

Mid 1930s Hoover model 25 Motor Smokes

Hi there, I recently acquired and restored for the most part, A mid 1930s Hoover model 25. It has the original wheels, bumper, and rubber handle grip which is brittle. It has a factory original bag and cord from a hoover model 28 which are both in mint condition, but it's close enough...

Response I have had this machine for over a few years and I'll only be collecting more rare or uncommon antique vacuums. As for the Imperial upright vacuum, I'll hold onto it in the meantime. Honestly, most collectors will sell machines for a price that another collector or someone is willing...

Just Got Clues I just got some good clues as to the manufacturer of my Imperial vacuum cleaner from the 1920s. I looked at the label on the machine and the manufacture of this machine says, "Vacuum Specialty Co. Inc. 111 West 42nd Street, New York. I don't know hardly any other information...

Question My Imperial vacuum seems like a very rare machine. Does someone know about how to find the value or how much worth an antique vacuum cleaner, like mine is? What are the price ranges that most rare or uncommon antique vacuum cleaners sell for? What is the value of most 1920s vacuum...

1920's Imperial Upright vacuum Private Label Regina?

One Thought So, If my machine wasn't made by the Regina vacuum company, then I wonder what the history of the manufacturer is? I tried to find information on the internet about the Imperial vacuum company and really couldn't find any information or history about the manufacturer. Maybe someone...

Reply I don't know very much information about the history of the Imperial Vacuum company. My best guess is that it was possibly a private labeled Regina manufactured machine.
