I have two shop vacs, a Karcher NT40 and a DeWalt 10 gallon. A Dyson SV07, a Shark Wandvac, and a Green works stick vac with 2 4 amp and 1 5 AMP batteries. I have a Dirt Devil 10 amp from college, a Simplicity Jill, a Kenmore Intuition BU4020 upright, a Shark canister from Costco, a Miele C2 Turbo Team, a Sebo K3 with ET1 floorhead, a Dyson DC07 that I fixed, a Sanitaire SC649K with a VG2, and a Proteam FS6 with power nozzle and unpowered tools with hoses for both. Oh, and a Henry 200 Xtra. And a Sebo G1. I also have a couple of curb finds that I have to get around to so I can't count them yet.
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
Obviously, a central vac. And a Lindhaus HF6 and healthcare. A Sebo D4. A Sebo Felix. A good Dyson cordless with easily cleanable shroud and cyclones(jk). A Sanitaire SC888. A Sanitaire SC899. A Kirby Avalir 2. I would really like to track down a set of tools and accessories for the Sanitaire 649 if they fit the 12" models. And of course, a Miele C3 Homecare with the nicest bits and pieces.
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
My Mom used to congratulate me on helping out when I vacuumed. TBH I really got back into it after I lost my Dad. To show gratitude while staying with them, I started cleaning their house and they had this one filthy rug that I think had never been cleaned. It was clean by the time I was done.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
Not much history, I've had the Dirt Devil forever, the rest are blatant recent addiction. I have this strange love affair with Miele's design and am convinced they really do a better job of cleaning than any other tool.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
I have repaired the DC07, a Bissell Compact Upright, a Bissell Multicyclonic, added a magnet strip to my Sanitaire and swapped to a bagged setup, but really haven't encountered any problem I haven't been able to solve. I would like to 3d print and build my own vacuum someday. Seems achievable.
