What are your dream machines yet to be found?
None especially, but like them all.
Well who wouldn't want a Miele C3 Marin blue?
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
My mothers 1959 pea green Eureka vibra-beat model 1010 Mobile-Aire.
I used to lift it above my shoulders at age 5. At age 6, had to have congenital hernia surgery.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
My mom left me her Eureka model 1279 brandywine powerteam. I actually bought it for her in late 1979.
Before that, we had a gold color Eureka model 1620 suction only canister.
The Mobil-Aire vibra beat before that.
There was a garage sale find Kirby dual sanitronic 50. I painted my '74 Gremlin rocker panels with it. Junky car
When I got my own place in late 1979, I bought an $89 Eureka blue and white upright. Vibragroomer II, headlight. I never cared much for it other than for carpets. No suction to clean upholstery or drapes.
I replaced it a few years later with a Kenmore 3.5 hp powermate. I took up carpet cleaning as a sideline in 1984, and used that to pre clean customers carpets before either hot water extraction, or the Host dry clean method.
In which case I also used it to vacuum up the cleaning powder.
When we moved into our first house in 1988, I got the Eureka Express.
When my ex dumped me in 1993, I left the Kenmore behind.
Gave his sister the blue upright.
Mom left me her model 1279 Eureka powerteam. I saw the next 1980 model up,
model 1290 in a thrift store two weeks ago for $10. Barely scratched. No power nozzle, but it ran, so I took it home.
I took it apart, cleaned and disinfected it, re assembled it, and it looks and runs great. The hose is a replacement, but in good condition. I have all original attachments except the straight suction rug nozzle.
When my new partner and I moved here, we got a dog. I was allergic to her dander, so I installed the Hoover central vac in 1996. I only got the power unit and a Beam total control hose to use with my current Eureka power heads. I replaced the hose two years ago with the Canavac hose.
Had to replace the hose
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
