Current Vacuum collection
my main daily is a Lux 4000, backup is a Taski Bora12 with a 35' hose and Kirby attachments from a Sentria. I use an old eureka canister as a smoke-sucker in my repair shop, and for the floors out there I have a Kenmore Elite that has known a short life of intense abuse. The rest of my approximately 30 vacuums are the remnants of a wholesale lot I purchased to sell as whole units and salvage parts.
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
I'm currently looking for a Kenmore canister with the magicord, ya know the one with the woodgrain :)
Also currently on the hunt for an older filter queen, an older rainbow, a newer electrolux canister, a blue/white Windsor Sensor s15, and one of the Phantoms which were briefly popular in the 1990's. I also owned (for a short time) a Pile-lifter, which I purchased specifically to sell, but now I kind-of miss it and though I have no use for it I'd totally buy another if presented the opportunity.
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
we had a rainbow when I was growing up,I hated it then, and I'm still not terribly fond of them because that water is NASTY. They do a great job though.
I became a collector when I was probably 4 or 5, they say I was obsessed, and I guess they were right because here I am typing up a profile here lol
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
Being in the repairs business, my history with vacuums, and really appliances in general runs so deep and so far back that I honestly don't have a succinct answer to this question. I can definitely say that my main two machines right now, the Electrolux Lux 4000 and the Taski Bora 12 are probably my all time favorite units that I've owned. Without too many details, something tragic happened to my collection a number of years ago, and I've ever since been slowly rebuilding my collection.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
I repair them all the time, I restored my lux 4000, and I've got my eye on an old commercial Royal to restore.
