    Vintage Sanitaire

Oh, and I plugged it in. Ran fine. Belt is missing, but there are a couple of spares on the handle. The bag inflated to jumbo watermelon size, LOL. It obviously could use some cleaning, some chrome polish, and maybe a new bag. The one on it is patched with cloth and duct tape. And I figured...

    Vintage Sanitaire

Someone was tossing out an old, heavy, metal "Sanitaire Commercial" upright vac the other day. I "rescued" it and am wondering if it's worth restoration. Looks like it needs a belt, and the bag has seen better days. And how does one empty said bag, anyway? Haven't plugged it in yet, and will...

Switzerland Planning to Launch Space Vacuum Cleaner into the Vacuum of Space

Well, somebody had to do it. Seriously, this is a plan to launch a debris gobbling satellite to find and "ingest" orbiting debris and then return it safely to earth. A way to clean up the cosmos, I suppose. I do wonder, however, if Miele is one of the subcontractors for the debris sucking...

    What is the WROST vacuum?

A mid-80's red plastic Hoover bagged upright my brother bought our Mom. He said he paid a lot of money for it, but it's a POS in my opinion. Falls apart if you look at it wrong. I donated it to Goodwill last year.

Price break on Electrolux Ergospace Canister

The trendy Electrolux Ergospace canister vac I got in September for $200 at Costco is now $40 off at same store. So, $160 for what I consider to be an above average vacuum cleaner, with a nod to the environment (it uses a lot of recycled plastic, isn't an energy hog, and works very well on hard...

    Electrolux Ergospace Canister Vacuum

Update to the update Well, I vacuumed out the bedroom today with a new bag and it's not seeping like the one that came with the vac. So that is good. This is the first vac I've had with a bag indicator that actually seems to work. The one on the Bissell Butler never seems to show any fullness...

    Windtunnel bagless rewind

I suppose if Target gives you a hard time about the return, you could point out that there may be a bit of false labeling on the machine, claiming it's a Wind Tunnel when it doesn't actually contain the technology that established the Wind Tunnel name in the first place.

    Electrolux Ergospace Canister Vacuum

Update The replacement synthetic S-Bags ("Long Performance") arrived today from Vac Shack. These appear to be a bit thicker than the ones included with the Ergospace, so I replaced the 1/2 full on on it with a new one. Will see if it seeps dust more or less than the one that came with the vac...

    "The Best Stick Vacuum" . . .

Thanks for the info on the Elux stick vac. Yeah, the price of the H/S Hoover Linx stick vac, $200, is just what I paid for the excellent Elux Ergospace canister vac. Although the Ergospace is larger and not quite so convenient, it will probably suck circles around any stick vac at any price...

    "The Best Stick Vacuum" . . .

Yes, interesting how the copy kept the actual mfg and model names out of the discussion. I guess that's so someone doesn't find the same thing for 1/2 the price. $200 for a stick vac? I don't think so... Anyway, as you can tell, I'm not too impressed with stick vacs, esp the cordless variety...

    Electrolux Ergospace Canister Vacuum

Actually I wouldn't mind if that hose was a couple feet shorter.

    Electrolux Ergospace Canister Vacuum

Well, the turbo floor tool is sort of an unexpected bonus. The vac is really meant to be a hard floor vac primarily. I agree that there is a fair amount of "dead space" on the turbo tool due to the wheels and more importantly the bearings/drive mechanism for the rollers, but I found it still...

    Electrolux Ergospace Canister Vacuum

Hey no problem. Nobody's perfect, least of all me. The synthetic bags are 9.99/5. The paper bags are 8.99/5. I opted for the synthetic. I like the idea of more capacity (ability to conform to the bag compartment shape better) and longer Life (ability to hold more dust before it clogs). Not sure...

    Electrolux Ergospace Canister Vacuum

Also, the bare floor tool works best on hard flooring with the brushes retracted. The brushes are a bit too grabby to work well on carpeting. The turbo brush floor tool is better for carpeting - the revolving bushes make it easier to sweep the carpet. Also, if one lifts it a little the turbo...
