I started with the LUX XXX then fell in love with vacuums. Then I found an old 1950’s Power-Vac for my shop. Then a LUX 60, 2 Westinghouse hand helds. I just finished a full restoration on my ‘29 premier Spic Span model 86. Last weekend I picked up a universal model VC6702. This one is sweet. Looks like a rocket. And finally today I picked up 3 Hoovers. Models 28-543-105
I had to mess with the 105 because the old man I bought them from called it the “early version”
I’m not sure what that means but I got Her up and running again. Scared the crap out of me because the roller started banging on the carpet. All my vacs are suction only so I didn’t realize the roller had those strips of metal then brushes on it. Hahahaha. That’s such a cool and smart design.
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
I just started this hobby and my XXX was my dream machine but let’s see how the hoovers perform. I’m having so much fun already. Looks like the hunt begins now. Lucky me huh.
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
All I remember is every time my mom would vacuum the living room, I would jump on the coach and just listen to the motor then fall asleep. I don’t recall what Vac She had but I’ll never forget the sound of that motor. It put me to sleep every time.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
I don’t know all the history yet. I’m still in the “That one looks cool” stage.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
Oh dang. I should’ve read all the questions 1st huh.
I restored my lux 30,60, power-Vac, premier 86.
