If you remove the exhaust filter cover while the vacuum is on, you'll be able to feel the air leaking there. It isn't surely a sealed system. I've had 4 K1s and they all had airbelts covered in carbon. E1 works much better in that case as its exhaust fitler has a seal around it.

I'm not really sure if that height control works as it should. We've got thin carpets and I can vacuum on any height and the warning light doesn't come on at all. Obviously it's much harder to push on lower settings though. So I was wondering if it cleans efficiently on each setting.. It copes...
