(Hypothetically) How does oneself open a vacuum shop?

I bought my fist store 16 years ago. It was a pretty crappy location, cracks in the windows, worn down carpet, mainly used vacuums and a few blue line sanitaires that were new. 16 years later, we have two very large locations and they are pretty much the largest locations (volume/revenue) in...

    Vacuflo Model 26 Dating

The model 26 was discontinued in 1992. The only way to really tell the date is to look at the sticker on the motor inside or call Vacuflo. They were fairly cryptic on these models. Newer models have the year followed by the week of manufacture in the serial number.

Tip on how I restore brushrolls

We’ve been using a wire wheel since 1955 at my stores- assuming the employee didn’t already sell the customer a new brushroll (which is around 90% of the time)

Anyone got a dirt cheap 2 stage lamb motor?

Looks like a pretty basic horn motor. We have plenty of them at work, but they are retail priced (same as online).

    Central Vac DIY Questions

This is one of the reasons they make central vacuum companies. Call your closest local person and have them come out. Most of the people on here do not own a central vacuum business or a vacuum cleaner store. You’re getting advice from other people who don’t have a clue

    Rebadges

Kristi has really done well diversifying Tacony’s portfolio. Fortunately for those of us with stores, it is rare for a consumer (other than vacuum enthusiasts) to realize and research these types of things.

    Hoover Bag

Just an FYI- Kyle is doing an amazing job on these bags! I ordered one for my 725 special that was stricken with an ugly orange replacement bag. Thanks so much- pictured are two of my employees getting excited about the bag. Ron has been working on vacuums for over 40 years. He basically went...

Are there still retail stores that let you try out vacuums?

A favorite customer of ours spent over $300 replacing Dyson parts destroyed by screws (and obviously from a retail display). When we asked if he pulled these out of a trash can behind Target or Bed Bath, he claimed his child did it… That said…. We welcome anyone to come to our stores and try...

Kirby Company sold to Right Lane Industries

I’ll tell you exactly what they will do (if they are smart) They will ride the wave of the “Kirby” name for the next 15-25 years. They will begin private labeling various models and create a retail big box line. They will consolidate dealers into protected territories for the “flagship” model...

Can vacuum cleaner repair stores source parts?

The whole point of a vacuum store is to supply vacuum cleaners, other cleaning products, and parts for vacuum cleaners. If you want to go to a dumpster store with a bunch of used junk- because they can’t afford to be a dealer for any major brands, you will not find a Miele motor. If they do have...

    Sebo Automatic X8

I have a bunch of Sebo X8 models, but my stores also sell Sebo. They are great machines!

    Cars!

I’ve already had to put a transmission in mine, and a radiator. For the price, this has been the most problematic car I’ve ever owned. Luxxx- I used to have a VTX750 that I adored until an accident on the interstate. Haven’t ridden since
