I have always had a fascination for older things, specially mechanical things that have withstood the test of time and still work as well as they day they were unboxed. I have been through my childhood and the 90's vacuums that I remembered and loved, now focusing on ones that claim to be efficient and new, while keeping some of the best oldies around ;)
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
Nothing yet. I have found all of my old wants, but if I could make a decision today, I would have the newest Rainbow. My grandmother had one growing up and it was a power horse, I bought an identical one just because I could, but the logic behind them is sound.
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
A baby picture of my father who was born in 1949 with the Kirby that I still own in the background.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
Kirby, Eureka, Hoover, Dyson, Kenmore, Hoover, Electrolux...multiples of each. I love to reminisce in old memories. Even if it costs me....
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
Yes, one of the Kirby's I inherited I polished back to brand new show room condition. It was so beautiful I didn't want to get rid of it, but the one I had left had much more sentimental value. Have fixed up many others over the years, but this one was the one that really made me think twice.
