What are your dream machines yet to be found?
None at this time.
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
My mother told of before I was born and her early PW lux XXX needed emptying, I would kick non-stop until she gave in and did so. She also told of when one of my aunts stayed with us and vacuumed our house on her knees because she was used to uprights and didnt know our cleaner had wands. I remember my maternal grandfather had a 50s-vintage Hoover upright that I liked the sound of. My paternal grandmother severed her finger trying to clear a blockage in a running upright. They re-attached it but it was always crooked after that.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
Ive owned many vintage and new vacuums over the years as I sought the cleaner I liked best for daily use, mainly Electrolux, Hoover, Filter Queen, and Compact/Tristar. Each time I moved I tended to sell or donate them.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
I worked on nearly every cleaner Ive owned. I replaced motor bearings in many of them. I rewound the field coil in a Hoover Convertible I had as a teenager. I repaired, cleaned, and donated to thrift stores many cleaners that I bought online or at flea markets and antiques malls.
