While most of my vacuums live in storage, I have a special place in my heart for kirbys, bag-in-the-back eurekas, and miscellaneous vacuums from my 90's childhood. I'm also a sucker for any good canister with a power nozzle
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
Fantom Lightning, Eureka boxtop in brandywine, Dyson DC05 Motorhead
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
Using both of my grandmothers' Electroluxes (one had an Olympia and the other a Renaissance), and my mom's Kirby Heritage 2 (which my grandma gave her when she bought the Olympia)
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
I've been collecting vacuums for 20 years, and it has gone through a number of iterations as a went to college and moved out on my own. I usually live in NYC and my vacuums are divided between a storage unit in the city, but I moved to a larger place Philadelphia for an NYC covid hiatus and brought a few machines with me (along with some new additions/thrift finds). Very excited to be back collecting!
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
Very few of my vacuums were purchased new, I thrifted/found them online and repaired/restored them to the best of my ability. I don't know how to do electrical/motor work and dont have great polishing equipement, but I always do a teardown and thorough cleaning!
