Current Vacuum collection
Sanyo performax bagged upright with 25 foot (!) hose and 5 stage filter system, crevice, round brush, oval brush, wide carpet attachment with brush insert, brushless small oval. Best vacuum I’ve ever owned. Can’t get parts for it any more. Has anyone seen the movie “Mr. Mom” with the vacuum they call Jaws that eats the curtains? That’s my Sanyo!!

shark rocket duo clean. Meh. The handheld part is on because it’s corded so lasts longer than ….

Black & Decker lithium Dustbuster cordless

Oh yeah and somewhere in the attic might still be the old all metal weighs 100 lbs. Kirby that you had to scrape the insides of the bag with an embedded comb out the bottom onto newspaper, invariably inducing a sneezing fit. My housekeeper insisted I get it, but I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
One that doesn’t break the backs of most of the women and half the men in the countries where most homes have them. I mean, c’mon, the design of a basic upright hasn’t changed significantly since it was invented. Even self powered ones still require you to push/steer them, largely with your dominant hand, in a non-upright position, leaving your back all cattywompus. Robot vacs are coming along, but they still have a way to go to do as good a job as a determined housewife/husband with a powerful corded vac.
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
Riding the Electrolux across the oriental rugs.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
Other than those already mentioned, I’ve had a couple popular alternative-style ones, like a Rainbow, an early Dyson, etc. and a series of Dustbusters and cheap stick vacs and even a push carpetno cleaner, the kind you still see from time to time in restaurants.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
No.
