What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
-Kirby Tradition: My parents owned it from 1979-1998. It was our main vacuum for many years. I used to hoover the entire house with it every couple of weeks when I was in junior and senior high (and afterwards) until it finally gave up. It ate belts like mad! Not the greatest for people like me with allergies!
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
-In my family: Kirby Tradition (1979-1998), Hoover Elite (early 1990s), Kenmore Dyno-Mite handheld canister vac (1986-1999), Eureka Boss upright (green), and a green bagless upright with a round-looped handle. Mom owned a Sharp Twin Energy upright (green), since 1998 (after trading in the Tradition), then gave it to me in 2007 before my move to California. Had a JohnnyVac Jazz canister vac after I moved to Calgary. Sold it, and replaced it with a Canadian Electrolux (AP280). Recently sold the AP280 and bought an Electrolux 89.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
-Im an expert at replacing Kirby belts! My Tradition ate belts like mad, so I quickly learned how to replace them. If I got a Kirby that needed repair or restoration, I could probably do it, from my lifelong experience with the Tradition.
