What are your dream machines yet to be found?
I would love to find a Kirby 1C someday, if ever. Otherwise I find pretty much any old appliance or power tool neat. I also love old cars.
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
I remember being obsessed with vacuums as a little kid, for reasons I dont quite remember. I also have vague memories of taking rides on the canister of our old Electrolux Oxygen Ultra as a toddler.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
I am unsure of their origins. The most I know is that my Dual Sanitronic 80 seemed like it was used hard. Although it ran well, it was pretty beat up before I restored and polished it.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
Yes. My Dual Sanitronic 80 was the first vacuum I ever restored, and also my first time machine polishing metal. I will soon be tearing-down and restoring a completely original Kirby 1-CR with most of its attachments for an independent school project. I also plan to restore my 515 and replace its brown trim from the factory refurb, with trim of the original red and black color.
For projects outside of my personal collection, I restored a Kirby Ultimage G for my aunt, whose Dyson Animal was on its last legs. I also serviced and cleaned up a garbage-find Electrolux Super J for my grandparents, who regretted replacing their 60s Electrolux canister many years ago.
