We (My family and I) use my circa 1972 Electrolux 1205 almost every day.

My quietest vacuum is probably my Niagra Jr. Hand vac, because it doesn't actualy run.

Thank you all for your kind words of enouragement! I was wondering if anyone here knew where I could get a new safety switch of the older style? The one on my kirby is cracked on the back, and the hole unit is out of commison until I can find a new one. Any help would be much obliged!
