What are your dream machines yet to be found?
Green and white Eureka or equivalent
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
The hum of my grandmother’s old Dirt Devil and the little light making paths through the Shag carpet.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
The Eureka I found for free on Craigslist, the previous owners had apparently put in hardwood floors and didn’t need the metal beater bar of the Vibra Groomer II scratching it up.
The Kirby 518, as far as I can tell, was owned by someone who had it in storage in a basement or somewhere else damp, and had been used like a shop vac, because when I picked it up it had mildew and mold dusting all the metal parts, and the shakeout bag was full of pine needles and soil.
The Avalir 2 I picked up from a sweet old lady in a retirement village, she just couldn’t lift it up the stairs since her housekeeper wasn’t able to keep coming out to their place.
The first Heritage I picked up was a project to give to my friend in Ohio, it was owned by someone who was cleaning out their parents’ home after they passed and he had tried to do something to it but once he had the bag off he got distracted or something happened and it never got put back together. He also gave me the Handi-Butler their previous Kirby had come with, which I used with the 518 to polish the Heritage.
The second Heritage and Tradition I don’t know much about, the owner was just cleaning out his garage and said they would be free if I took both!
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
Yes, I have deep cleaned, repaired ,and restored several different machines at this point. And modified machines!
