    my new Hoover model 105

Model 105 Beautiful machine! Until the advent of the model 541, Hoover had the following name designations for their models from largest to smallest: Senior, Junior, Special, Baby. Every special model that is a factory rebuilt machine (at least that I've ever seen) are all marked "Previous...

Pre 1920 Hoovers and other vacuums

I know that vacuum cleaners were not all that common before the 1920's, but have always been surprised by how few of them seem to be around. This was even true some 40 years ago. Could this be because of the metal scrap drives during World War II? What do you guys think?

    Vintage Central Vacuum

Central Vacs Nemours, the DuPont Estate in Wilmington, DE has a vintage central vac system built into it, though I do not know what kind it is. I think the house dates to about 1914 or so.

what is the best way to polish a kirby?

Polishing It is a wonder that I never got hurt fooling around polishing old Hoover 700 and 725's when I was a kid of 12 forty odd years ago. I regularly used the Hoover buffing wheels in the service station that I worked in with no more protection than an apron and some good coaching on...

    LOL

Vacuette What they meant to say is that it costs half the price of any other efficient cleaner...which shows to go ya that you should say what you mean and mean what you say.

Which were the first and last Henry Dreyfuss Hoovers?

Dreyfuss If Dreyfuss was born in 1904, my guess is that he would have been too young to have had anything to do with the 541, unless Hoover was just letting a kid "take a crack at it" and liked what he came up with. That said, someone with an eye for detail definitely had a hand in its design...

Which were the first and last Henry Dreyfuss Hoovers?

Henry Dreyfuss A website called www.jitterbuzz.com ascribes the design of the Hoover model 541 to Dreyfuss, but the patent drawing by Dreyfuss which they use "for this model" is plainly the patent drawing for the Hoover 300! It is design patent D-101,858 filed 10/7/35, dated 11/10/36 entitled...

Which were the first and last Henry Dreyfuss Hoovers?

Dreyfuss I've always been under the impression that his first design for Hoover was the 541, but I don't know where I came by that information. Obviously, this was not a "from the ground up" design of his, but based on the way a 541 looks compared to the 105 and other Hoover models that...

    Model 800 Hoover on ebay

HOOVER 800 Bernie- No wonder you didn't think the bag was original on the picture shown in your post #178442...it isn't and is definitely a replacement, and the machine that it is on is kind of a dog, too. The machine I was referring to on ebay is item #270960911936. Sorry for the confusion...

Question about a Hoover Vacuum model 28

Model 28 Jon- See Thread #13491 Hoover List posted by Marty Kaplan...this list is from the Hoover Company circa 1960 and shows the years of production for the model 28 as 1946-50 and serial numbers 2,379,001 thru 4,657,595 for this machine. That's a lot of Hoovers!

    Model 800 Hoover on ebay

Hoover 800 My thought is that the original colors have faded...but I'm no expert either and know next to nothing about Hamilton produced machines.

    baged or bagless 2

Bagged or Bagless I use a Hoover Windtunnel Model U5753-900 to clean the contract grade carpet in my store (a custom framing shop) and am satisfied with its performance provided that the bin is emptied after every cleaning. It is no good at all for products such as Resolve High Traffic Carpet...
