two vintage Electrolux vacuums (details to come); TUEC Stationary Cleaner in my in-laws' house.
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
My sister tried to get a crimp out of the vacuum hose by placing the hose under the back wheel of the family Renault LeCar. She let off the parking brake, but the car didn't move. She got out of the car to move the vacuum hose, but forgot to reset the parking brake. Because the driveway had a fairly steep slope, the Renault started rolling down the driveway. As it rolled down the driveway, the open driver's side door caught the embankment on the side of the driveway, lifting the outer corner of the open door and taking a nice gouge out of the embankment. The car hit the street and rolled right across the street to the opposite curb where it stopped, driver's side door cocked up in the air as if were a Lamborghini scissor door.
Weeks later, when the car was repaired, my mother took my sister and me to pick up her vegetable delivery from the wholesale market. It was a bit of a trick, though, because we stopped at the auto body place to pick up the repaired car. The whole shop came out to see the girl who tried to fix the vacuum cleaner hose by running over it with a Renault LeCar.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
