Question on Constellation and Compact hoses

The hose on my Constellation 858 has developed the usual cracks but I’ve not found a source for a replacement, does anyone here know of a good one? I also need a non-electric hose for my Compact C-5. There appear to be two or three available from various vendors: a white one, a cream one, and a...

    Revelation and Compact info requested

My C5 has the ABC outlet as well. It's very clear that Interstate made way more vacuums set up for the ABC (Always Beauty Clean) powerhead than they made powerheads; only a handful of the powerheads are know to exist. I'd love to know the story behind this mystery. I've seen photos of...

rare Compact c-4 variation. never seen this before

Wow . . . Thanks for posting these pics! They're really interesting, particularly the front wheels replacing the skids. Amazing that Compact went from four wheels to three with the C-5 then back to four with the C-6. I've always wondered what the real story about the ABC power brush is. It...

    Why canisters?

IMHO nothing beats a good Kirby for carpets and rugs where you need a revolving brush. Some of the canister powerheads may clean as well but I've not seen one with the convenience of the Kirby toe-tap height adjustment that makes getting a good rug seal simple and quick. However, there are...

my visit to the vacuum museum

So true: These older vacuums definitely prove that you don't have to have 12 amp motors to clean well. I found the comment on the Filter Queen vs. the Compact very interesting. Tom, do you find that in general the FQ has significantly better suction than the Compact...

    kirby hair dryer

Hmmm . . . Too bad these are so rare, it'd be totally cool to have a contest to see what could dry a big 'ol bouffant hairdo faster, this or a Filter Queen bonnet.

    Compact c6 with ABC PN

It's a C-5 The C-5 is the only Compact with three wheels like this one, the C-6 has four wheels. Compact mis-identified their own products on their history poster! I have a C-5 just like this one, including the ABC (Always Beauty Clean) powernozzle electrical port on the right hand side...

    General Electric MV-2 Canister

When I was a kid I had a Wards Signature hand vac that looked a little like that blue Eureka. I don't recall too much about it but the nozzle had a similarly swoopy design. The the car on the Eureka box looks very GM to me, mostly like a '64 Impala.

Ms. Marie Pazera of Bellefontaine Neighbors' Eureka Empress

Beautiful . . . With the box and all accessories! Good luck on finding a better hose.

    Getting a free Kirby tomorrow!

Lucky you! While some may prefer one model over another there are no bad Kirbys! There are damned few that can't be restored to good working order and a good working Kirby is a great vacuum . . . make sure you post some pix for us :)

RARE Montgomery Ward Canned ham "powerteam" find!

Neat! What a nice vac, good luck on the attachment search. I'm always amazed at how hard it can be to find attachments for even common vacs so can imagine this will take some time and persistence but the end result will be worth it.
