Specialise in early (pre-40s) uprights, though collect most types!
Have pre-war range of Hoovers, including 400, 500, 700, 800, 900 series etc, Hoover Babies, Hoover Specials, Eureka, GEC, Premier (Junior & Duplex), Hotpoint, Goblin etc, a few later Kirby models plus Vacuette, Vacuette electric..I could go on! Also have a few hand-operated machines.
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
Pre-1920 Hoovers, rarer commercial model Hoovers plus early uprights by other manufacturers, especially with the original bags!
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
Earliest memories are of using my mums Hoover 1354 Junior when I was about five! Also, used to like looking at neighbours cleaners when I visited..and used to collect vacuum leaflets back in the 70s and make them into scrap-books!
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
The first cleaner I owned myself was probably a pretty much standard upright compact Hoover machine from the early 80s, which was given to me by a neighbour, who I did the garden for back in 1985. Since then I started collecting stuff from boot sales shortly after I passed my driving test back in 1987..
Since then Ive used all manner of machines, especially since I also had a shop doing repairs on them for a while..but I generally use upright Hoovers, either with shake-out or paper bags.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
Just realised I answered part of this in the last question...Ive repaired quite a few of them and like restoring old machines when I get chance.
