Current Vacuum collection
I am not a collector; I have made this account with hopes of receiving advice regarding two vintage vacuum cleaners that I have recently become responsible for and am hoping to sell. Once this is done, I will delete or deactivate this account out of respect for your club.
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
While I am not personally into collecting vacuum cleaners, I very much respect and admire the passion of your members. Here are some things I am passionate about: music (The Beatles and Talking Heads being my absolute favorites but I love a ton of artists), film (I studied film history/Cinema Studies in college- we did not have majors, everyone received a degree in liberal arts, but Film Studies was my area of concentration), and rabbits/ domestic rabbit advocacy (I currently have two rabbits, both rescues: Lindsay [male Holland lop] who is 7.5 and Lucia [female, dark Grey, not sure of breed, who just turned 11]. If you are at all interested in learning about rabbits, please ask me! They make wonderful pets but most people don't realize this and don't raise them properly to allow them to reach their full potential. Mine are free roam, litter box trained, know their names (and their nicknames!), come when called, and can do a few tricks!)
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
My mom bought an upright Oreck when I was young because I had really had allergies. That's about it. Currently my bunny Lindsay enjoys this hand held dust buster type vacuum on him on the light setting. My other rabbit Lucia is a little afraid of vacuums.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
So I will just provide the history of the two I am trying to sell that I know- I worked for a gentleman for the past 6 years who recently passed away at the age of 80. He had a good amount of things that belonged to his parents, including a Hoover dial-a-matic, model 1110, and a Regina Electrikbroom. He also had the original manuals for both- the Hoover was purchased on 6/1/1965. I know this because the date is written over the "Guarantee" portion of the manual, promising the machine to work for one year from date of purchase. It still works today. He also had a box labeled "1101 cleaning tools" with a bunch of attachments and a storage bag, and 1 replacement agitator belt in its original packaging, which is open as it originally contained 2, as well as multiple bags for both machines.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
No.
