Must be something in the (Rainbow) water...?

Waiting anxiously for more ..... Fred, Can't wait for the next segment in your blow-by-blow photo essay. The only thing better than following this thread would be working with you as we've worked on several machines together in the past. Have to tell you, over the past few weeks I've been...

    Hamilton Beach No.12....

I can chime in here. Our family had an HB upright when I grew up. I remember having to ask an older sibling to turn it on since I was afraid of the machine but also excited by it. I didn't push it around for long when M&D bought a Compact. Hamilton Beach was made in Racine Wisconsin. My mom and...

    Hoover Quick Broom

Have to chime in. I have the gold 2 speed quick broom (S2087) and put one of the new bare floor brushes on in place of the larger multi surface nozzle that comes with it. I find it works very well on my vinyl floors. I think the design of the nozzle has a lot to do with how effective they are at...

    Stretch hoses...

Dave, I agree with your assessment. I think the Hoover Ultraflex hoses are amazing. They're heavier than the new thin vinyl stretch hoses but much more forgiving to work with. Also, I do like the Tuflex type hose you're able to buy in bulk. I love to make 9 to 10 foot custom vinyl...

OMG... it does exist! Awesome find!!!

Great find Fred, And yes, Gary is amazing with his ability to spot stuff at a rummage. I like the way the dolly creates a finishing touch. The only way they (Hoover) could have improved it would have been to wrap the outer ring with a rubber bumper of some sort .... whatever. Enjoy!! psf

    Christmas Vac - Already ?

Tom, I've got that same model. It's my favorite Sanitronic even though we had a D80 growing up. I had mine machine polished by Terry in Racine.. He's our local machine polishing resource. Beautiful holiday vac. Enjoy and thanks for sharing. Also, it was great meeting you at...

Great debate: Lux metal vs. plastic-bodied models as users?

Don't own a plastic machine .... I'm somewhat allergic to plastic so I shy away from them. I have a model XXX, Super J and Ultralux, all in pristine condition. The Super J is my favorite lux machine .... the one I grab when a job calls for super suction. I think it was one of the best in...

which hoover convertible is your favorite?

I have to agree with John and Fred. The 69 is my absolute favorite model with the 1070 as the runner up. I don't much care for the "special" series. I just couldn't get use to the idea of a Hoover upright without a headlight. I often use the 69 at my daily driver. Don't care much for...

    Golden J Resto Done!!!

Hey Mr. Vacumaniac .... fellow Wisconsinite. I need a little advice. I have a PN-2 like the one you have with your Super J. How do you release the chrome plate over the brush roll. There is a small slot that somehow has a tab that needs to be released .... just don't get it. I expect...

    Eureka 2091 Restoration Complete!

Beautiful restore job Fred. Having worked with you on machines before, I know how detailed the end product is. It's great to find a machine like that, especially since the connection goes back a ways, and bring it back to "new." Personally, while I love vacuuming with a 60's convertible or...

    Golden J Resto Done!!!

Beautiful job restoring that machine Derek. Love to see an older lux detailed like that. I have a Super J I picked up at a sewing and vac shop just north of Milwaukee. It's in great shape as well. Have to say it's one of the first machines I grab whenever there is a need to do some...

    Best Decade for Vacuums

I agree with Beerad (plus I love his sauna pic) No, but really, I think the quality was still good in the 60s. The 70's and early 80s saw some changes in technology, design and power but I think the quality of components began to suffer. The late 50s on through the 60's are by far my...

    Vintage Electrikbroom

Hey Joel (Mister electrikbroomgu), I'm a fellow enthusiastic of the Regina Electrikbrooms. My interests lie with models from the mid 50s to the late 60s. IMHO, that was the era when they were well built. When you have a minute would love to see pixs of machines in your collection that reflect...
