    Dyson DC 59 Problem

Hi have a Dyson DC 59 that I use primarily for my kitchen floor and entry hall. I bought it new about 6 or 7 years ago. I have found that it will no longer stay on when I put it on the higher power, MAX setting. As soon as I do, it shuts off in a few seconds. I have to wait about 5 or 10...

    Public Service announcement!

Very informative and insightful article in ATLANTIC about the long term effects -- even if you never had symptoms of the disease. The danger is not just about who dies from it. We can't be cavalier about this illness...

    Public Service announcement!

Masks Masks mostly help us not to spread virus to others. They do help slightly to keep us from getting it. But if all are wearing masks, all the better. Here is a chart published by my hometown (Memphis) regarding the use of masks -- why and how they are helpful...

    Electrolux at Service Merchandise

I remember it very well. During college back in the early 1970's I had worked as a salesman for Electrolux. We sold the 1205 and L at the time. So years later I remember walking into Serv. Merch. one day and shocked to find a brand new Lux being sold in a retail store! How things change!!

    Favorite Kirby models

These are my favorites. I also really like my Avalir but don't have pics of it. I had the Model C for a long time but gave it to the Tom Gasko for his Vac Museum and glad it has a great home. I also have a 519 which I use for cleaning along with the Heritage Legend and the Avalir. I only...

    My "new" Good Housekeeper

"Good Housekeeper" was sold at least during the mid to late 40's because my Aunt had one for some time before she purchased her Kirby 517. It looked like a Royal as the first one above with revolving brush; but it was hammertone red with a red bag.

Very High Priced Vacuums - The Future?

If you allow for dollar value per years of inflation, a Hoover Model 62 with attachments which sold in 1951 for $123.00 today would be $1208.00. The prices for the high end vacuums are not that out of line given the quality and versatility that they possess.

    The NEW Museum of Vacuums

Congratulations, Tom!! I have a few items left from my collection that I discovered unpacking after the move. You may want them for the new museum. So sorry Tacony kept so much of your collection. But why? If they hated vac collectors, what did they want with your collection of vintage...

Kirby Avalir 2 Questions - Am I doing it right?

Floor Brushes that fit Kirby I agree that Kirby's floor tool as of late is not helpful for bare floors. I do use it for under low furniture on rugs when I don't feel like moving the large furniture. But on bare floors, no! I have both of the following floor brushes that I use (depending on...

    Aerus Lux Guardian Platinum Reviews

Actually they have rated the Kirby Avalir. Quite positive rating. But I think that's the only DTD vacuum on CU's latest roster of vacuum ratings.

    Door to Door Vac Prices

Electrolux 1205 IN 1970-73 When I was selling for Electrolux 1970 to 1973 the Model 1205 sold for $150.00 as a straight suction vac. To add the Power Nozzle and electric hose added another $50 or so. So the whole package was about $210. The Model L was $99.00 and with the power nozzle was a...

    Aerus Lux Guardian Platinum Reviews

Read Consumer Reports Vacuum ratings today. Looks like they didn't rate any Aerus-Lux products, not even the Aerus Lux Guardian Platinum. Anyone know or have an idea why? Just wondering? Seems odd to me since they had in the past.
