What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
When I was 4, at my grandmothers house, she had a Electrolux Z65. I thought it looked like an elephant. I fell in love with vacuum cleaners at that point.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
I got heavily into collecting from 1980, when I was sixteen. I got a lot of my vacuum cleaners from car boot sales, neighbours, skips (dumpsters). I have to admit, my collection is taking over my house. I will have to cut down.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
I first repaired an Electrolux Z65 in 1973 when I was 9. It needed new brushes and a switch. Repairing these things has always come naturally to me. I repair vacuums for relatives, friends and neighbours - and for me, of course. I am now 55 and I am still happily working away. I do this for a hobby. Its very theraputic and I do not think I will ever stop.
