    Retractable cords on upright vacuums

My mom has two uprights with retractable cords, a Kenmore Quick Clean bagless and Hoover Whole House Rewind bagless. I thought both were decent. I guess being used to canisters with a retractable cord, she wanted an upright with that feature too. Being used to canisters myself, I did like it too.

    Housing market update

Mostly given up on it I put my down payment into a share certificate to collect higher interest rate, and I won’t get it back until August. I don’t want to get political, but the tariffs seem like they will make home prices go up tremendously. I think it’s likely I won’t ever be able to buy...

    Hoover Dimension 1000 NIB

Not a bad price at all, I don’t think, if it is complete. I wouldn’t be able to use it though! Neat seeing the original packages of bags from the era as well.

Very early Shop Vac All Around?

I remember the All Arounds, seems like they came out around the late 1990s? I remember seeing them sold at Walmart. They are cute and I do like these little wet/dry vacs. I don’t recall if Shop Vac encodes a date in the serial number, but you might check it for a possible date.

    Kenmore models regained headlamp?

Cleva along with the canisters, got the designs for the uprights from Panasonic as well. However Cleva do not own the full rights to the Kenmore brand specifically, but I believe have some sort of licensing agreement to use it. They even did infomercials for the Intuition upright a few years...

Scarcity of Electroluxes in thrift stores; a theory

They wanted $60 for that Diamond Jubilee at the estate sale, which was certainly higher than I’ve seen in thrift stores. I think they might have had it marked half off as it was the last day and most items were 50% off. It depends on the sale, but sometimes they are selling things quite cheap...

Scarcity of Electroluxes in thrift stores; a theory

That could be possible. I don’t see many Electrolux I’m the thrift stores here either, although I have seen a few over the last decade or so, both metal and plastic models. Do you ever have estate sales in your area? I’ve seen them fairly often at those, over just the last 3 or 4 I have seen a...

    Kenmore models regained headlamp?

My guess is the floor care line may be sold off at some point, given how many retailers that it’s sold through, it seems to still be a somewhat popular line. Or possibly the Kenmore brand will be sold, seeing how Lowes has sold some Kenmore appliances as well as has Amazon. And the DieHard...

    Second Vehicle?

It’s a 2016. It does have some minor damage to the front bumper where I lightly bumped a hog one night while rounding a corner, and there’s a tiny dent on the door from someone deciding not to put their shopping cart away. Other than that it looks quite good and everything works. I do worry...

    Kenmore models regained headlamp?

I’ve noticed some Kenmore canisters being slightly redesigned slightly and they’ve regained headlights on the power nozzle. This is a welcome change, because I didn’t like when the power nozzles lost headlights when Cleva designed canisters first came out, and only the Elite models still had...

    Second Vehicle?

I’m still driving my Ford Taurus, and not having any trouble with it. However, it feels like I’m wearing it out, since it amazes me how fast the miles have racked up on it lately. I got it the year before Covid, so much of 2020 and 2021, I wasn’t driving as often. But after that I guess I was...

    Most unpleasant-sounding vacuum ever?

To be honest I found most 1990s era direct air vacs like Hoover and Eureka to be unpleasantly loud! Even though they are nice vacuums. And yes those Eureka Superlites, while they are cute, are very noisy! Modern Bissells, to my ears aren’t actually too bad, especially considering how cheap...

    Off the wagon again

Unfortunately, unlike other members here who have gotten good progress in vacuum sobriety, I’ve fallen off the wagon today, double so! Earlier this week on my lunch break, I stopped by Salvation Army and saw some vacs. One was a Shop Vac Mighty Mini canister vac of the 1980s with its box and...

    Supermarkets

It seems that maybe Aldi will continue to operate Winn Dixie stores even after some stores convert to Aldi according to this: “ “ALDI will operate Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket stores with the same level of care and focus on quality and service, as we also evaluate which locations will...

    Hoover Help-Mate

Probably. I’d like to find one of those Concept Twos someday. I see the Concept Ones occasionally, but not the Two. I guess maybe being more expensive, they didn’t sell as many here.
