So far I only collect Electrolux. Many years back when I was younger, my Grandmother gave me a 1960's pristine Filter Queen she bought new and never used as my first VAC. That fell quickly to the wayside once she gave me one of her Electrolux. Model G Aqua is my favorite. I have 4. 3 early production with power in front - 1 later with power on the side.
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
I love simple efficient Swedish design when it crashes into art deco style design. I drive a Volvo. Gimmie something classic with chrome.
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
My grandmother had an enormous house. She always bought VACS in 2's. The newest started on the top floors and worked their way down. By the time they got to me down in the cellar where I played as a kid...2 twin 1940's era AirWays were my toys. I had the cleanest play area of any kid in the 80's :-)
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
These days I am forced to scour Ebay to find an Electrolux carcasses that can be resurrected.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
ALL of my VACS have required work of some sort. Some only needed a healthy cleaning - others had smoke and sparks flying out the back. I am very interested in learning more about replacing brushes. I understand they need to be seated with some kind of brush stone. My local small motor repair shop is a joke. They butchered and destroyed one of my model L's!!!!
