What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
When I was a baby(early 70s) my mother would leave the Hoover (UFO shaped) running in my room to help me sleep. At age 4 my grandparents Kirby D50 was my only playmate when I stayed over night at their house. And at age 8 my mother got a later Rainbow D2 and never did use it properly. Yes, it did suffer an untimely death.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
I have been a life long lover of vacuums. I got my first Kirby, grandpas D50, my freshman year of high school. 1996 to 1999 I was a shop manager for Kirby of Orem, in Utah. I bought the shop(not the name)in late 1999 and renamed it One Stop Vacuums. I went out of business in 2001. Since then I have worked for the local Oreck stores(five locations in Utah) and for 8 months for a different Kirby distributor(now out of business). I hope to be back in the vacuum repair business soon.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
I have worked on many vacuums over an 8 year period.I love Kirbys. I even like Orecks, but I dont like Oreck Customers(meanest people I have ever worked with, cant understand why). Id like to work in a repair shop again, but they seem to be a dying industry around here.
