Riccar SupraLite R10Sand - motor running abnormally super fast

Status update: I had ordered a fan online and performed the installation today. I vacuumed a few rooms and it runs perfectly! The culprit was definitely the fan. I would like to thank all of you on this thread that helped me diagnose the problem, directing me to the issue, and giving me the...

Riccar SupraLite R10Sand - motor running abnormally super fast

Sorry it took so long, but I finally found time and courage to open up the machine. I have attached some photos. I think panasonicvac, DesiredName, and mieles5380leo were correct that there was an issue with the fan / impeller. It looks like the plastic fan piece was cracking and becoming...

Riccar SupraLite R10Sand - motor running abnormally super fast

Thanks for everyone's advice. Give me some time, and I will take apart my machine and take a closer look at the fan and bearings. This will take some time for me though. I will give an update when I do. Thanks, all.

Riccar SupraLite R10Sand - motor running abnormally super fast

panasonicvac, i think you are correct. i was looking at my own video and realized that there really is no slippage of the belt and motor wheel. So, the issue is likely closer to the motor. I actually cancelled my belt order, cuz i don't think that is the issue any more. i will take a part my...

Riccar SupraLite R10Sand - motor running abnormally super fast

blackheart, excellent idea. i have uploaded the video to here: basically, the first instance is the low level power setting. the second instant is the high level power setting. btw, there is a hint of burnt something/plastic smell when i am running the vacuum cleaner once this issue started.

Riccar SupraLite R10Sand - motor running abnormally super fast

mieles5380leo, thanks for the info. i will check for the motor pulling too much current, as you recommended. i just looked up bad bearings on youtube. i suppose that is a possibility. I'm not looking fwd to taking apart the motor. =( what did you mean by "The fan blade though is a likely culprit."

Riccar SupraLite R10Sand - motor running abnormally super fast

Thanks for the advice. i will check the fan. btw, i received the replacement part that i ordered. I had ordered a B014-0814B belt, which the Riccar site says fits my R10Sand. But, when I received it, i realized that the belt is not the same as the belt I have in the vacuum cleaner. It's very...

Riccar SupraLite R10Sand - motor running abnormally super fast

Blackheart, good idea. I opened the bag container, turned on the machine at low setting, and the bag did inflate pretty quickly. So, it does not appear clogged. good suggestion. panasonicvac, interesting idea. i hope that's not the case, but it's probably the case. I should receive my new belt...

Riccar SupraLite R10Sand - motor running abnormally super fast

I have a ~10 year old R10Sand that has worked fine for a decade. Recently, all of a sudden, I have noticed that the motor is running magnitudes faster than normal. This is the equivalent of a car running at 9000 rpm on first gear. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone may have encountered this...
