Current Vacuum collection
Electrolux Diplomat LX, obtained from a customer who passed away. He smoked like a freight train, so I was afraid that we might never get the smoke smell to leave. However, after replacing the bag and vacuuming up some baking soda a few times, you can’t smell any smoke! The other one is a dirt devil canister, it’s only a poor excuse for a back up. Prior to obtaining the Electrolux, we had an Eureka Air speed bagless. l liked the vacuum, but I loved the fact that their customer service was phenomenal! When you call their office, you reach an American based Customer Service, no dial a number and wait fifteen minutes! They were always helpful to me, even beyond my warranty by a couple of months! That was the best part, knowing I could depend on them!
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
I might be interested in a Miele or Ricart (I may be spelling those wrong). However, from what I understand, this Electrolux could last the rest of my life, with proper maintenance. It's already 27 years old and works like a charm!
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
As a child in the early 70's, someone knocked over a vaporizer, which was filled with water. My cousin was baby sitting us & she used my mother's vacuum cleaner to suck op the water. I had no clue until years later, you weren't supposed to do that with a regular vacuum cleaner!
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
Dirt Devil (wedding gift)
Bissell
Hoover
Shark
**Eureka**
***Electrolux***
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
I've worked on every one of them at some point, never restored one.
