I've collected vacuums ever since I was little, my fascination beginning with my family's Kirby Heritage 2 (I believe it was a later model- plastic hose end, mini emptor, and the slim nozzle). I was obsessed with all the attachments and configurations, and my collection has been growing ever since.
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
So many- top of the list are machines from my childhood that relatives owned, namely a Fantom Lightning and an Electrolux Renaissance. I've also always wanted the TOL Eureka upright with the box top bag and magic touch (the name of which is escaping me right now), a Royal Powercast, and a Dyson DC05 motorhead.
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
My family was very supportive of my vacuum fascination, so my favorite memories are probably spending all day vacuuming my grandparents' houses (both sides always had electroluxes), and later rebuilding my childhood Kirby with my dad.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
Most of my collection has been thrifted, but the oldest members of my collection were gifts from friends and family members who knew I loved vacuums. Lots of Kirbys, several Eurekas, and a variety of other machines I just found interesting.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
While I don't know how to repair motors, I always tear down vacuums when I get them and give them a deep clean. I was also always called upon by family friends to fix their vacuums as a kid, usually it was just a belt or clog but I felt super knowledgeable lol
