new to the kirby vacuum world

You will want to buy an original bag for your Classic III because the only genuine ones still available are NOS, so once they are gone they are gone forever. I just got one for mine on Ebay.

    Measuring CFM?

The issue is that you need to measure both airflow and inches of water at the same time to get a good idea of a vacuum's ability. As was said earlier the brush roll and the seal are also factors that determine the vacuum's performance. The Baird meter is a combination of CFM and inches water...

I shall be on BBC Radio Leeds tomorrow from 8am

The total amount of power consumed by a vacuum cleaner is nothing in the power consumption of a household. The EU would be doing the world a greater favor by legislating a minimum lifespan, as measured by a warranty, to keep vacuums out of the scrap pile. They do the same to car manufacturers...

    Kirby 513&801.Help...

I don't think anybody in the world will pay $2000 for the Kirby. Fully restored versions of your Kirby have been on Ebay for around $700 (without attachments)and they did not sell. I think you should be able to ask $250 for the Kirby with the attachments. The Royal should fetch more than $100...

IF Your Daily Driver Could Do Something Extra, What Would It Be?

I have to agree that Kirby needs a much better floor tool and a metal adjustable wand to go with it. A floor waxer that was not "one use only" disposable would be nice.

    Kirby polishing

Try looking for somebody who polishes car wheels. I found a guy to do my Kirby who normally polishes hot rod wheels. He wanted me to mark which surfaces get polished as he was not familiar with vacuums. The cost is high at $200 but this is California...

Has anyone done a motor "transplant"?

Your best bet is to find an electric motor repair shop near you. They can rewind the armarure and field stator and fix any orher issue you are having. Do a google search for "electric motor rewind or repair".

    Kirby's With Disposable Bags

If I use a later "G6-Sentria" or the latest "F" type adapter on the top of the hose, does that mean I could use the latest Micron Magic bags that fit the G series?

    Kirby's With Disposable Bags

Doesn't the Tradition use the same emptor as the Classic III?

    Kirby's With Disposable Bags

Wow! Thanks for the parts list! If the Classic III is converted to bags will it still perform like a Heritage II?

    Kirby's With Disposable Bags

My goal was to get a Classic III and convert it to a bagged system by changing the emptor and the bag of a Heritage I. The reason for this is I want a bagged system with all the red trim and attachments of the Classic III. I read in an earlier post that adding the bagged emptor "ruins" the...

    Kirby's With Disposable Bags

Were the Legend II and Heritage II's the first Kirby's that used a disposable filter bag? I have been looking for Classic III's and some have bags and some don't. Do the Heritage II's use the same motor and nozzle but just change the emptor and bag compared to the Classic III?

    Kirby vs Miele?

I just bought a Kirby G7 Diamond on ebay. I guess I just could not bring myself to buy another promise of German engineering excellence. The Kirby has to be more difficult to use but you can't discount pride of ownership. Now in the internet age I think Kirby will be forced to adjust their sales...

    Kirby vs Miele?

Has anybody directly compared the Kirby Sentria to the Miele uprights? I know the Miele is quieter but otherwise I wonder how they stack up. My local vacuum store says the the Miele's clean carpets better, but of course he does not carry Kirby. I don't dare call a Kirby sales person for a demo!
