Currently only have 2 vintage Hoovers
Both Australian models - 1334B and U1070
Both are in excellent condition with minimal wear.
Over the years I've collected cleaned up and moved on heaps of machines. I've had every model of the junior series UK build till late 50's / early 60's when Australia started its own Manufacturing in Meadow Bank NSW. From then my collection was completed with Australia model up until 1984 when the Junior / Lark series became obsolete to the Turbopower models.
Not really a fan of the Turbopower machines, which I think where poorly made inferiors vacuum cleaners, compared the earlier models.
Favorite models -
262, 612, 652 Seniors
133A, 1346 and U1012 & U1070
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
Currently, Hoover Senior 652A (Grey) or 652C in mint or very good condition
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
My Grandmothers 652A...... Stumbling across a unsuspecting Hoover in a secondhand or op shop as a curious child.
Owned a model 725 all original including intact bag, only cord replacement. Found at Revolve, Canberra for just $25AU in 1997...
Stupidly gave away
- such early models are really hard to find here...
Over years founds lots of 612 onwards - but pre war models are rare..
Never seen a 160 model, guessing due to the war years.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
Yes with the exception of electrical repair. Cleaning up, removing scuffs, polishing, working and replaces outer bags - the usual stuff
Occasional cord or plug replacements
