Rainbow E2 4 quart basin questions

Does anyone know why the newer black version 4 quart basin won't fit the older models? It is cheaper to buy and looks easier to clean out. If it won't fit could I modify my dolly to make it work? using a transformer to use a 240 volt central vacuum on a 120 volt outlet

Short answer is no. The reason some central vacuums use 240 volts is that household 120 volt outlets can not deliver enough wattage. The maximum wattage a 120 volt 15 amp outlet is 1800. If you are lucky drawing more than this will trip the breaker if not it could start a fire.

Could anybody tell me about my JCPenney-branded Hoover Convertible?

Very nice JCPenney vacuum. The Fury is from How to Frame a Figg. Don Knotts drives an Edsel in The Ghost and Mr Chicken. Both great movies BTW. There is a scene in How to Frame a Figg where they steal all kinds of appliances to run electricity out to the graveyard.
