My current collection is filled with Kirbys ranging from the 40s all the way up to modern day with my Kirby Avalir 100th Anniversary Edition.
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
Kirby ComVac 1600 and the 1935 Kirby Model 1C.
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
My favorite memory will have to be when I found my first Kirby. I was taking the garbage out to a dumpster on a hot summer day and happened to notice something shiny sticking out of a mound of dirt. It was rectangular and metal. I dug out dirt from the inside and saw brushes. Curiosity directing me at this point, I dug in the dirt for roughly an hour and made the discovery of a whole Kirby Heritage II Turbo buried in the ground. I took her home, cleaned her off, and plugged it in (like a fool) and it roared to life shattering its very dry rotten fan in the process. That vacuum has since been restored.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
Entirely Kirbys. Ranging from my 1945 Kirby Model 505 up to my Kirby Avalir.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
So far I’ve repaired my Kirby Model 561, built a Model 562 from parts on eBay, piecemealed together a Model 519 out of two junk Model 519s, and restored my Kirby Heritage II.
