    Vintage Model 42

Hi Scott I'm amazed you can pick anything out of that mess! The Hoover in the center is a 26 and that on the left is a 28 with a metal hood. The 28 was real mess and the 26 had a white handle so both got the spa treatment. The bases are Rustoleum not-quite-hoover tan hammertone and the...

    Vintage Model 42

Hi Scott Sorry - got so excited at the prospect of maybe getting a dusting brush I forgot to congratulate you on that beautiful 42!! Fabulous!! I remember as a kid thinking they were way cooler, with their pushed-in noses, than the 53 but my mom didn't agree. So we got a 53 but the look has...

    Vintage Model 42

I have a 53 without a dusting brush!   Jeff - would you be interested in selling your brown dust brush outright?  I have a crevice tool but not a spare.  Give it some thought and let me know. Thanks, Tom

The Miracle of Mr Clean Magic Eraser

Davey (and the others), You might want to test Mr Clean if you plan to clean a colored surface - it contains bleach and will remove pigment - I know as we used to use it at the hotel and now have light blotches on the wall covering. Test it first. I use Scrubbing Bubbles aerosol - spray on...

    Eureka Gold CRown Cannister

Brian (and Neil) A bit more looking and all 3 have gold trim against a paint scheme of soft green and cream. The Mobilaire ( the canned ham) has a 50th Anniversary sticker on it so I'm thinking they are all from 1957? The Rotomatic i got at an antique shop near Rogers and the other 2 from ebay...

    Eureka Gold CRown Cannister

Hey Brian, Mine is a 260 according to the serial plate. The light surround is pale gold (missing the lens) and the access plate is gold and ivory. Kinda beat up and only 1 speed works but it's like the one my Aunt had when I was a kid (say 1955-57) so here it is. Enjoy yours Tom

    Hose ID Please...

Looks like a Hoover model 29 upright hose from the tool set. I have an identical one that came with mine. About 1950. The dark brown buttons match the brown painted extension tubes that replaced the earlier silver painted ones. This is the earlier maroon and grey version of the well-known...

    Messed up model 30

Very odd. What's that thing sticking out of the upholstery tool? Or is that something I don't really want to ask?

    GE Brochure

more GE memories I never knew anyone who had one but I remember seeing the moss green and chrome version in the the stores. It will live on, of course, as the vacuum June used to keep her house spotless on "Leave It To Beaver". I think it was the same one all the years the show was on. Color...

    Kenmore...

Minnesota Connection I grew up in Minneapolis but moved to the great metropolis of Ottertail (pop. 451) 4 years ago. I feel like Lisa Douglas (give me Park Avenue) at times but it's pretty cool. We're about 50 miles NW of Alexandria and life is good. Mostly Kirby and Lux country with a LOT of...

    Kenmore...

to myhooverco - reply Hi Tom. The offer of a model 26 is most generous! Email me at [email protected] and we'l work out the details. And while I'm at it, would you have a dusting brush or crevice tool for my AeroDyne that you can part with? Thanks again for the offer. Tom

    Kenmore...

more childhood When I was about 8, the lady up the street had a Commander-I think it was maroon and didn't have a flap over the exhaust. It was way cooler than my mother's Aerodyne! Ours was a Kenmore neighborhood - our next door neighbor had an upright (my 1955 catalog calls it "our best" #20...
