MD G23 240V Dual Motor Central Vacuum Cleaner System

I also have an old MD central vacuum that just sits in the basement and collects dust. Mind you, it collects it from all over the house...

    Split level central vacuum

Here's a short clip of testing out a 25 year old dual motor Vacu-Maid S3200...technically a split can unit but the canisters are mounted right next to each other (pretty typical). This unit would not have been this loud when it was new, but thanks to many years of debris passing through the...

What is the most powerful central vacuum?

Grant, that's interesting to know how the SV got its name! I like the hidden meanings in the old MD model numbers (E2 = Extra Capacity with 2 motors, right?). I use a 35 year old SV at home (well, the motors are newer and they are 3-stage now) and it handles three retractable hoses plus about...

Electrolux Super J bag door keeps popping open when on

Also, re the low suction...if they are still using the original hose with a braided covering, this is almost certainly the reason for poor performance. A new vinyl hose will wake that vacuum right up!!

Electrolux Super J bag door keeps popping open when on

Sounds like the automatic control valve is faulty, or maybe the tubes/ports are clogged and need to be cleaned out. The front cover will need to be taken apart (four screws) and the controls can either be cleaned/replaced/bypassed...I'm mentioning the last option as it might be the best way to...

MD G23 240V Dual Motor Central Vacuum Cleaner System

I had never heard of Kiwivac. Neat looking machines. Definitely MD-inspired. Here is the complete brochure. These were current when I started selling MD around 2005.

MD G23 240V Dual Motor Central Vacuum Cleaner System

I have an older SVT installed here at home. Actually, it started life as a Model SV, but since I noticed it had the same taller motor enclosure as an SVT, I replaced the motors with three stage 117507's. The performance is just a bit less than an S5 or S900 (which would be my go-to modern...

To many restorations in 2 months

Beautiful work! Cleaning the parts in the dishwasher sure makes everything look brand-new. I've never wanted to risk doing that with electrical components, bearings, etc but it's encouraging to see that it can be done successfully.

Vintage appliance household lover saying hello.

Beautiful B-8! I'll echo the comments of others; you definitely need the matching turquoise Electrolux Model G now.

MD G23 240V Dual Motor Central Vacuum Cleaner System

That looks like a late 1970s or early 1980s model E...the G23 didn't come about until the mid 1990s when the 116765 and 117123 became available (Grant please correct me if I'm wrong). G23 will have a wider louvered bottom (though not as wide as on an SV or SVT, which used two 7.2" motors) and a...

Anyone got a dirt cheap 2 stage lamb motor?

That looks like a 116392 motor though other 5.7" two stage tangential (horned) discharge motors would work too. Ideally you'll want an epoxy coated fan case for long life in this application, so look for the -13 suffix after the motor's SKU. You could jump to a 116472 for better performance...

    Central vacuum recommendations?

The MD tapered cloth support bag is the key to keeping airflow strong as the bag fills, as it allows much more of the disposable bag's surface area to be used for filtering. The more common "bag in a can" design means that the side walls of the bag are in close contact with the enclosure, and no...

    Central vacuum recommendations.

John has been pretty quiet since he got his central vacs. Is he having so much fun vacuuming that he's not making any more videos? I'd actually be interested to hear an update now that he's used both units.

    Central vacuum recommendations?

Y'know, I've never been NuTone's biggest fan, but seeing all these failed VX and PP units does give me a fresh appreciation for how solid the previous CV models were. The CV350 and 353 used big 7.2" motors (two and three stage respectively) which would deliver pretty decent performance and very...

    Central Vac DIY Questions

I'm glad to hear you got your S44 back up and running with a new motor. Money well spent, IMO. As much as I love MD machines, that particular unit did suffer from motor longevity issues. I loved the performance and sold a good handful, but when failures started happening (although covered under...
