Im the founder of the Vacuum Cleaner Collectors Club, and own several non electric vacuum cleaners from the late 1800s.
I also collect floor care products like carpet sweepers, floor polishers, and so on.
At the moment all my electric vacuum cleaners other than my daily driver the Electrolux LX are undergoing a complete restoration process, and a new display room is in the works.
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
Hoover Model O, Electrolux C-A (the only wet/dry commercial Electrolux made). Im also looking for the cans, and jars that held the wax, furniture polish and so on for the model LX with the LX on the logo.
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
The Electrolux model LX. I was 2 years old when I saw it eject the wrapper (bag) to a kid that was funny, but it started a lifelong interest in vacuum cleaners.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
Im proud to say that I own the OLDEST working vacuum cleaner. It is the Whirlwind patented June 8, 1869 by Ives W. McGaffy. At the moment this is in my moms apartment, along with all my other
non electric machines.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
While Ive done some repair of various Kirby and Electrolux models, my primary job was training manager for a number of Kirby offices. While this was primarily in whe western suburbs of Chicago, Ive also worked for Kirby in San Diego, California.
