changing the ends on vintage vac hoses?

I have 3 beautiful vintage hoses that don't fit any of my machines. I'm wondering if it is possible to remove the existing metal pieces on the end that enters the machine and replace it with ends that would fit the 2 electrolux sleds I have that need hoses. The ends seem to be crimped on...

thanks to HOOVER 300 and REPAIRMAN!!

Thanks to your advice, my Hoover 700 is up and running and in daily use. Ditto my little handheld Singer, which is mostly used for cleanup on my workbench. Have a paper bag in the Hoover, inside the cloth outer bag and will likely continue that way to preserve the outer bag. couldn't have done...

    Hoover model 700 restored

I'm just getting started on a model 700 restoration and could use some advice. What did you use to polish the aluminum with? I've cleaned the grit off it, but it still has a dull, flat look. Also where did u get the bag? I just bought one off e bay but it's an aftermarket one, probably from the...

    Cloth bags for two oldies.

Thanks to both you guys for your quick and helpful response. Vacuums are a new world for me. I have mostly done pocketwatch restoration, as well as vintage toasters, vintage electric fans and 2 1936 Servel Electrolux propane refrigerators. I love the beauty and quality of old machinery. Very...

    Cloth bags for two oldies.

Looking at some of the posts on this forum has inspired me to get two of my old vacs out of the shed and bring them back to life and beauty. I've got a Hoover 700 upright that I found in the garbarge in Jersey City when I was living there 15 years ago. Also a Singer handheld H6 model, bought...

"Whirlwind" Cannister Vac - how do you remove motor

thanks for your reply. I already removed the screen, but don't see any screws. The whole assembly slides freely in the cannister UNTIL it reaches the opening, where the rubber gasket that surrounds the motor and intake hangs up on an indent in the sheet metal of the cannister.

"Whirlwind" Cannister Vac - how do you remove motor

I recently bought a "Whirlwind Cannister vac to add to my modest collection of antique vacs. It looked like the early Electrolux sled and I thought it might be an Electrolux knock off since Whirlwind was one of their trade marks. It came with a whole slew of attachments and a good hose - which I...
