While a longer cord is appealing, dragging it around corners and marking up walls that have flat paint that can't be cleaned only repainted is most definitely not.

I agree Kevin...you actually have to use the thing regularly and do a decently thorough job.
I just don't think you get the same performance from today's plastic disposable vacuums. You could probably vacuum the same spot for hours and not pull up that deep down dirt.

I have to agree that they are ok machines and work best on low pile carpets. Anything thicker and it's like dragging a sleeping cat by the tail...no fun at all.
