What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
My earliest and favorite vacuum memory is the day my mom bought her Electrolux Silverado. I vividly remember that day. Not only was I was instantly fascinated with that machine, I remember the salesman that came to the house drove a beautiful baby blue 1966 Lincoln Continental sedan. Ive also been an avid Lincoln enthusiast from a very early age. Imagine! What a day for an 8 year old fascinated with vacuums and Lincolns!
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
Most all of my vacuums have been purchased second hand at garage/yard sales, flea markets, online auctions and such. My WindTunnel Ive owned since brand new as it was a Christmas present from my parents. My Kirby Tradition I purchased from the original owner and it came with the original bill of sale and paperwork. Interestingly, He and his wife purchased the machine on April 7,1981 - my younger brothers 1st birthday! Feb 20, 2014, I just purchased my Royal Lexon S20. The first brand new, "out-of-the-box" vac Ive ever purchased for myself.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
I have worked on/repaired most all of my machines in some capacity. Many of my Kirbys I have restored/refurbished from the ground up. Kirby restoration is my favorite hobby. I usually buy them a little rough or run down on purpose so that I can fix them up.
