    The old iron tubs that were enameled would retain heat as the metal base heated up from the water, allowing the water to stay hot/warm for longer. Like the actual old tubs you can see out in a field being used as a cattle watering device.

    Also, those fiberglass tubs do not hold heat from the massive amount of water they take. I had a garden tub and used it twice in 26 years. The rest of the time was the shower that was separate.
