I have 4 Kirbys Models, 519, D50, Classic III, and Heritage 1. and a royal Prince handheld.
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
A Kirby Tradition because next to red, Blue is my favorite color :-) second Id like to find an ultimate G diamond edition just because it has that extra speed switch. I think its a neat feature to have, specially since to my knowledge none of the new Kirbys have a suction control.
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
my earliest memories are of my mother running the Kirby heritage 1( that I now have) when I was around 4 or 5 years old. she use tell me to lift my feet up when she vacuumed around the couch lol.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
The Kirby 519 belonged to my Grandmother. The Classic III belonged to my great Grandmother. The Heritage belonged to my mother, all 3 ended up in my hands because they all became too heavy for them to use. but they loved there Kirbys. I took them for sentimental reasons and use them all on a rotating basis.
the D50 was my first Kirby. I actually found it out in the trash around the time I got my first apartment after high school in the late 90s. was perfect timing ! :-)
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
I have worked on all 4 of my Kirbys. from basics like changing belts and roll brushes to totally tearing them down, repacking the bearings replacing fan blades, motors brushes, and giving them all a good shine.
