Progress (german) model P50F - 1952-62 - in green suitcase with tool tray and most Bakelite tools. Bojacked hose w Electrolux XXX wand end. Replacement powercord in sky blue. Bakelite end caps with pressed cardboard body sylinder and internal motor supports - that is to say, in place of metal the vacuum is principally constructed of robustly pressed rolled paper tube elements. uses cloth dustbag fitted with paper liner. Pulls 65". Has unusual Bakelite blower accessory with heating element inside and hose-length cord that plugs piggyback style into powercord socket on vacuum. Puzzling but useful. Frustratingly, the metric sized tools need a slightly smaller tapered wand than American/Canadian standard. Need wands and a proper hose to use them all. For now I have ground down a black plastic Kirby wand end to fit tools.
Vactric cylinder w gold textured vinyl complete in shipping carton that has metric wands that fit the Progress perfectly :-)

Oh, what will I find forsaken and forlorn by the wayside this week...?
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
Like a lot of folks here the vacuum, indeed anything mechanical, fascinated me from tot-hood. Grammas Filter Queen, Aunt Carols Constellation, Moms Electroluxs.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
Most are Salvation Army/Goodwill/Saint Vincent DePaul/Value Village/ReStore finds, countryside tag sales and local auctions. And then theres all those nice people who simply toss stuff in your car til the door wont close - that one goes in the passenger seat. Nothing from relatives, dang it, tho I have my Mom constantly quizzing her gal pals and the church ladies.
And of course famous McHardys Vacuums. First independant vacuum store in London Ontario 1952, where I was born and hung out as a downtown kid, even after we moved out to the burbs. J.C "Mac" sold his first vacuum door to door in 1947. http://www.mchardyvac.com/index.htm
Here in Stratford its Bill Ellisons Vacuum Shop, who is also a collector of long standing
eBay is a judiciously indulged temptation. Less and lesser as the Canadian $ plunges again. :-(
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
Every machine in my house gets totally dismantled and reconditioned as like-new as feasible. Thanks to these archives I have set aside the NevrDull in favour of #00000 steel wool, Mothers Billet Metal Polish, Mr Clean Magic Eraser and Polish Wheel. Heartfelt thank yous to you all.
Have developed a guaranteed method of saturating the inside of leaky hoses - cloth or saran weave - with thinned liquid latex that restores like-new suction without sacrificing appearance or flexibility and will not peel off. Thus all my original hoses work as well as they display. Feel free to email me for instructional sheet - I can not do it for you unless you are here to watch. :-)
