I have a 80th aniversay edition g4 which is my favorite ive had it my entire life. I also own a 88 hII legend 2 d80s a 1939 model 2c and I'm working on restoring a legend 2 and a heritage 84
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
my number one would be a supervac 180 or any super wide commercial Kirby, a model 1c or a model R, a royal 18" a dirt devil broomvac a hII with a 13" nozzle
What are your earliest and favorite vacuum memories?
my earliest memory is having my grandma push me around on the same g4 as a baby I own now.
What is the history of vacuum you have owned?
my first vacuum I got when I was 7 or 8 my mom and my grandma bought it for me for christmas it was a dirt devil dynamite and it was extremely loud. my second one was the g4 when we moved we pulled out of the garage and put it in the barn until we could fix it. I pulled it out of the barn 2 years later and it was brown and sticky and it stunk like I just pulled it out of a old horse barn and the reason it was put away was because the bag wasn't on right so they thought the switch was bad and it wouldn't run my next one is the legend I got for free from one of my grandpas friends. worst looking Kirby I ever saw in my entire life it was black its was so oxidized and corroded. I got it running really good with a diamond edition fan and I modified the switch to run hose mode 24/7 I shortened the air flow path by chopping the fill tube and I run polypropylene HEPA bags in it. when my mom passed away I had to move it all to my dads house I hid the legend at my grandparents and took the g4 I had accumulated quite a bit of little plastic vacs and my parents sold them all at a garage sale my only vac left was the g4 my mom and grandma gave me and the legend. I bought a diamond edition UG for 200 bucks complete with everthing and fixed it up cleaned it out and buffed it and gave it to my sisters who were holding my g4 hostage until the got something that could take the beating. fast forward a couple years and the guy at lansig vacuums called me telling me he just got 2 d80s so I went over there and bought them the job I was offered at 8 years old was still open so I went to work at lansing vacuums as the service technician were I was told I knew more than the owners on Kirby vintage stuff. that's when I noticed a 69 classic 1CR in the back row and I asked him about it and he gave it to me he also gave me what he though was just a heritage but it was a K84 without the original belt lifter and bag top. the K84 I gave to one of my best friends who I know would appreciate it more than I would I bought a legend 2 from the same place. the most significant vac in my collection is the 1939 2c that came in on a day I was gone. I walked in a noticed a first gen Kirby missing a headlight then I noticed there was no belt lifter, just a cap so I wheeled it to the back so when the boss got there I could buy it I bought it for 125 bucks and it ran terrible but I'm working on it now.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any vacuum cleaners?
yes I have worked and lansing vacuums as the service technician as well as fixing and rebuilding other peoples vacuums
